Thiago Alcantara will be sold by Bayern Munich this summer, confirms the German club on Saturday. Bayern’s CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has confirmed that the Spanish midfielder has requested to leave the club with Liverpool one of the big contenders to sign the former FC Barcelona midfielder.
Speaking to Bild, Rummenigge said: “He’s a great guy on and off the pitch. We negotiated with him and met all of his wishes. But Thiago Alvantara wants to leave. It looks like he may want to do something new at the end of his career. We don’t want to lose a player for free next year. I say that very clearly.”
Thiago looks to be on his way to Liverpool next season as the Reds have been the first and only club to have been linked in recent weeks. Jurgen Klopp is believed to be wanting to add a playmaker to his midfield, with Jordan Henderson and Georginio Wijnaldum being ‘work horses’. Klopp is keen on adding creativity to his squad with Thiago the ideal target.
