Edinson Cavani is close to completing a move back to the Serie A. Multiple Italian sources have confirmed that the Uruguayan striker has been in talks with AS Roma and that an agreement is close. Reports claim that Cavani and Roma will finish the deal at the start of next week.
Sebas Giovanelli, a Uruguayan journalist, claims that Cavani is already on his way to Rome to finalise the deal and other sources claim that the striker has already agreed personal terms with the Roman club. The 33-year-old is a free agent after his contract at Paris Saint-Germain expired last week.
If Cavani completes a move to AS Roma, it would mean a return to the Serie A. The striker had his European breakthrough in Italy, playing for Palermo. Later on he would move to Napoli and at that club Cavani developed into one of Europe’s best strikers. In 2013 Cavani left Italy to join PSG in a deal worth €65m.
