Gabriel Martinelli is the second Arsenal player to have signed a new long-term contract this week. After the Gunners managed to tie down Bukayo Saka on a multi-year deal, Martinelli has also put pen to paper. Arsenal have confirmed that tbe Brazilian has signed a new deal on their official website.
“I am very happy that Gabi has signed a new contract with us”, Mikel Arteta was quoted by the official Arsenal website. “He is a very talented young player and he has impressed us with his performances, attitude and work-rate. We are looking forward to getting him back to full fitness and to watching his development at our club.”
Martinelli has been one of the positives for Arsenal this season, becoming the first teenager since Nicolas Anelka to have scored 10 or more goals in a single season. However, it is not expected that Martinelli will play any further games this season due to a knee injury, but it is expected that he will be fit in time for the new season kicks off in September.
