Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta hopes to get reunited with Manchester City defender John Stones next season. The defender has fallen out of favour at the Etihad Stadium and could be leaving the club this summer. According to the Sun, both Arsenal and Everton are keen on landing the England international.
Stones used to be a first team regular under Pep Guardiola, but after a series of injuries the former Everton defender has slipped down the pecking order, with Stones making just 14 starts in all competitions this season. While City are looking to sign a new central defender this summer, the club might want to cash in on Stones to generate the funds to make a move.
The Sun claims that Stones is currently unhappy at Man City and that the 26-year-old has already requested a meeting on his future with the club. At this stage it is unclear how Man City value Stones, who signed for the club in a deal worth around €50m three seasons ago. It is, however, expected that City would like to recuperate a large part of the sum they paid Everton in 2017.
