Paris Saint-Germain have stopped contract talks with Neymar, reports L’Equipe. The club feels that the Brazilian star forward has some time left on his current deal and there is no haste in agreeing a new deal. Neymar’s contract will run out in the summer of 2022 and it is obvious the forward wants to rejoin his former club FC Barcelona this summer.
The report claims that PSG’s sporting director Leonardo has not plans to speak to Neymar and his management in the foreseeable future, despite the fact a contract meeting was planned a while ago. PSG and Neymar would have met in March but after the coronavirus pandemic struck in the middle of March, all talks have been stopped.
It is believed that PSG are currently focusing on Kylian Mbappe‘s contract ahead of Neymar’s situation. The club is aware that the Brazilian wants to return to Barcelona and have already laid out their transfer demands to both the forward and the Spanish giants. If Barcelona is prepared to meet the demands Neymar will be sold, if there will not be a bid PSG will initiate contract talks after the summer window has closed.
Meanwhile PSG is also considering to offer new contracts to Angel di Maria, Julian Draxler and Jese. Di Maria has indicated he wants to stay on in Paris, while Draxler’s contract will run out in 2021 and the club do not want him to leave on a free transfer. Jese also has one year left on his deal and PSG have made it clear they want to sell the former Real Madrid forward.
