FC Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has finally made a response around the speculation on Lionel Messi‘s future at the club. The president has insisted that the Argentinian forward will remain at the club for the foreseeable and that it is his dream to end his career with Barcelona.
Last week rumours emerged that Messi was fed-up with his club and Cadena SER claimed that the forward had stopped contract negotiations and was ready to leave the club. Several days later Goal claimed that Messi did not want to leave Barcelona, but is very unhappy with the board. He did end contract negotiations, but only to make a statement to the current president.
Messi is yet to make a statement on the rumours, but Bartomeu finally commented on Sunday: “I am not going to give details but Messi has said many times that he will end his football life in Barcelona,” he said. “We are focused on [the] competition and there are negotiations with many players. Messi wants to continue and wants to end [his career] here. He has many years left and we are going to enjoy him for much longer.”
