Manchester United have reportedly tied down Nemanja Matic with a new three-year contract. Transfer expert Gianluca di Marzio has revealed that the Serbian midfielder will be signing a new contract until the summer of 2023. Matic’s contract was due to run out next summer.
Matic was signed by Jose Mourinho in a €45m deal from Chelsea. The defensive midfielder has been an integral part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s midfield since the return of the Premier League in June. United have been in a smashing form, as the Red Devils are still in the race for a top four finish.
In March United already triggered a clause in Matic’s contract to prevent him from leaving on a free this summer. Later on it was reported that the two parties had been talking on a new contract, but all that went quiet due to the coronavirus lockdown. It appears as though the midfielder’s form has convinced United to push through a deal and offer him a new long-term deal.
