Arsenal and Saint-Etienne have restarted negotiations on the William Saliba matter. L’Equipe report that the two clubs have been talking about the young central defender playing the Coupe de France final on the 24th of July. The report claims that the talks have been progressing well and that an agreement is close.
Last week Arsenal decided to recall Saliba after his loan spell at Saint-Etienne. The French club and the defender were angry with the decision of The Gunners and openly released a statement. Main reason for Arsenal to cut the loan deal short was that Saint-Etienne refused to let Saliba complete a special training program, but also because Arsenal refused to pay a €2.5M bonus for playing the cup final.
Despite the differences, both clubs are now in talks to allow Saliba to play the cup final. It is believed that Arsenal had been talking with Saliba upon his return to England last week and that the player expressed his severe disappointment that he would miss the Coupe de France final against Paris Saint-Germain.
