Chelsea are still in pole position to sign Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen this summer. The Blues are the favourites to land the €100m valued midfielder, claim Goal. The effects of the coronavirus are widely spread across Europe, leaving Chelsea in control as they seek to close the gap towards Liverpool in the Premier League.
Havertz is keen on playing in the Champions League next season, a competition which he missed with Leverkusen. Chelsea are currently on route to a top four finish in the Premier League – and Champions League football – but still have Manchester United breathing in their neck with only two points behind.
Bayer Leverkusen stated earlier that the talented midfielder will be allowed to leave if a club meet his valuation. According to Goal this will be around the €100m mark. If the Blues feel to sign Havertz this summer it would be a major boost to several other European giants, including Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. Both sides are interested, but aren’t able to match Leverkusen’s €100m asking price.
