FC Barcelona boss Quique Setien refuses to give up on his club’s title dreams. The Blaugrana are currently four points behind arch rivals and league leaders Real Madrid, despite heading into the La Liga start with a small lead. With a seven game winning streak by Real Madrid, chances of a back-to-back La Liga win for Barcelona seem slim, but Setien is not giving up hope.
“Of course we can still win La Liga. Mathematics says it. We have to keep hope until the final day”, he told reporters ahead to their La Liga match with Espanyol on Wednesday. “We have to look at what we can do. Win, leave good feelings, make progress. And if not in this situation, everything we do is worth it for the next one.”
Setien is also happy that club president Josep Maria Bartomeu has indicated he has trust in the coach’s abilities. “The club are happy with the work we do, I focus on that,” he added. “I don’t value whether we win a game or lose others. I don’t live daily, I work with more perspective. We are quite happy, as I have said on numerous occasions. Results are one thing and the feelings are another.”
