Kevin de Bruyne will demand a massive wage hike at Manchester City if the club lose their appeal against the two-year ban from the Champions League at CAS, claims HBvL. City will officially learn their fate on July 13th and should the club fail to win their appeal, the club lose out several big stars including De Bruyne.
Not playing in the Champions League for two seasons could be a reason for De Bruyne to look for a change of scenery. The Belgian newspaper claims that the midfielder will miss out on around €3.5m in lost bonuses per season if City will miss out on European football for two seasons and De Bruyne wants the club to compensate him.
Meanwhile, clubs like Real Madrid will be on the alert as the deadline for the CAS decision comes closer. The Spanish giants would be one of the leading candidates if De Bruyne decides to leave Man City during the summer. The Belgian’s current deal will run out in 2023, meaning the Citizens could demand a massive fee for their star midfielder.
