The FIFA has decided to postpone the South American World Cup qualifiers to October, the footballing government has confirmed. Speaking with the South American federations and associations, the FIFA and Conmebol have agreed to delay the qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup to October.
The original start date was planned in September, but due to the coronavirus pandemic it has been decided to postpone all the qualifying games until at least October. The Conbembol has also requested the FIFA to postpone the final matches of the qualification to at least early 2022.
Meanwhile, the Brazilian FA have announced that the national team will change their venues for the qualification. At first they would play at the Arena Pernambuco in Recife, but this has been changed to the Arena Corinthians. Also, the game against Venezuela will be played without an audience.
