Chelsea’s 3-0 loss at Brammal Lane against Sheffield United could cost the Blues more than just a top four finish in the Premier League. If Chelsea fails to reach the group stages of next season’s Champions League, transfer target Kai Havertz will reject a move to Stamford Bridge, claims Sport Bild.
Havertz is one of the hottest targets on the summer market, but the talented midfielder only wants to leave Bayer Leverkusen for a club who play in the Champions League. Chelsea looked be on their way to the European tournament with fair ease, but after their 3-0 loss to Sheffield, the Blues will have to look over their shoulder for Leicester City and Manchester United.
Both teams have a game in hand on Chelsea and are respectively one and two points behind. If Leicester beats Bournemouth on Sunday and United beats Southampton on Monday, Chelsea will fall out off the top four with just three games to play. That way Chelsea’s loss at Sheffield could cost them both the Champions League and Kai Havertz.
