Former Bundesliga and Germany star Lukas Podolski still looks very closely to German football, especially what is happening at his former clubs FC Köln and Bayern Munich. Talking to Sky Germany, Podolski has praised the work of Bayern for completing the transfer of Leroy Sane and the forward could not look passed Hansi Flick for winning Bayern’s eighth consecutive Bundesliga title.
“What Bayern do is just right,” Podolski referred to the transfer of Sane in talks with Sky. “The transfer was interesting before Sane was injured and almost ready to complete the deal. What Bayern is building there is just right.” Despite labeling Sane as a top player, Podolski sees room for improvement. “He needs a few more seasons, the national team, a European championship and another World Cup.”
Podolski also had praise for Bayern boss Flick, who took over from Niko Kovac before the winter break in the Bundesliga. “He’s doing a great job. The team is working again. They run for each other. You can see that there is a functioning team on the pitch.” Under Kovac Bayern slipped on the table behind Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig, but under Flick Bayern managed to impress in the second half to claim the title in the Bundesliga.
