Chelsea move Turkish goalkeeper aside to find deal with Ajax over Andre Onana

While it has been reported that Chelsea are in talks with Trabzonspor over the transfer of Turkish goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir, the Athletic claims that the Blues would prefer to sign a different goalkeeper. Ajax goaltender Andre Onana has been identified as the club’s most important target to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga next season.

Frank Lampard has lost faith in the Spanish goalkeeper, who became the most expensive goaltender in the world in 2018. Kepa holds the worst save percentage (56%) of any Premier League goalkeeper this season and the rumours that Chelsea want to sign a new goalkeeper this summer have intensified in recent weeks.

Chelsea have been looking around for a replacement and it is believed that Onana top’s Lampard’s wishlist. The Athletic also reports that the club has been in ‘regular contact’ with the Ajax stopper, while they have asked fresh signing Hakim Ziyech to persuade his former teammate to join Chelsea. Ajax are demanding around €40m for the Cameroonian international.
