DFB president Fritz Keller has warned German clubs for the dominance of Bayern Munich in Germany. The president believes that Bayern winning too much could hurt both the clubs and German football in general. Keller says he fears fans will get bored of the Bundesliga and DFB Pokal if they will not become more competitive in the future.
Speaking to SWR, the former Freiburg president said: “It is certainly not conducive to football if we always have the same German champion and always the same German cup winner.” Bayern have won eight consecutive Bundesliga titles and have also claimed the German cup this season.
Keller states that he is hoping that more teams will be able to lift silverware during his tenure as DFB president. “Incidentally, it also hurts Bayern if they become German champions and cup winners every year. It gets yawning boring, and no one in football wants that,” Keller said.
