Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl has praised Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for the development of Manchester United in recent months. The Saints will play United at Old Trafford on Monday and Hassenhuttl has admitted that the Norwegian manager deserved all the praise for his work at United since replacing Jose Mourinho last season.
“In the beginning, people did not underestimate him as he had a very good start and was winning all the games,” Hasenhüttl said. “Then it was the opposite. So now it’s a little bit special for everyone around the world to see what he’s doing. That’s a problem in our business.”
“It’s more important that he is convinced about what he is doing – and at the moment he is proving all the experts wrong. The signing [Bruno Fernandes] in the winter has helped them massively. That is clear. The team is completely reorganised and very different”, the German manager added.
Southampton will face an in-form United, as the Red Devils are on a 17 games unbeaten streak. The Saints are unbeaten in four games, including wins over Norwich, Watford and Manchester City. Meanwhile, Manchester United could enter the top four of the table after Chelsea (3-0) and Leicester City (4-1) have lost their matches against Sheffield United and Bournemouth respectively.
