FC Barcelona have offered Philippe Coutinho to both Arsenal and Newcastle United. According to Goal the Spanish giants are keen on freeing up space in their squad while generating funds to make a bid for Internazionale striker Lautaro Martinez. The Brazilian midfielder has spent the past season on loan at Bayern Munich, but the Germans decide not to activate his buy-clause.
Coutinho joined Barcelona in a record-deal from Liverpool in 2018, only to be offloaded on a loan to Bayern Munich 18 months later. While in Germany Coutinho has failed to impress both Barcelona and Bayern enough to convince them to continue their cooperation. It is now reported that Barcelona have offered Coutinho to both Arsenal and Newcastle United to sign the midfielder.
However, Barcelona are going to struggle to find a club willing to take on both Coutinho’s wage and a transfer fee which is close to the original fee Barcelona paid Liverpool in 2018. This could mean Barcelona will explore the option of putting another loan agreement with both Arsenal and Newcastle United as it is expected that neither club will be able to pay a large fee and take on Coutinho’s large salary next season.
