FC Barcelona have made an enquiry for Tottenham Hotspur youngster Ryan Sessegnon, reports Sky Sports. The Spanish giants have been big admirers of the young winger since his days at Fulham. The 20-year-old was already watched by scouts from Barcelona during the 2018 Championship play-off final.
The club never did make an approach though, but have always kept an eye out on Sessegnon. And now it is reported that Barcelona have made contact – via intermediaries – with Tottenham to talk about a deal, potentially a player swap deal. Earlier on Barcelona offered Tottenham Nelson Semedo and Samuel Umtiti, while expressing their desire to sign Tanguy Ndombele.
However, Sky Sports claim that Barcelona’s interest in Ndombele has cooled now they have signed Miralem Pjanic from Juventus. Though Barcelona still have Ndombele on their shortlist, the club feels that a new left-back has more priority over signing a new central midfielder with the likes of Frenkie de Jong and Sergio Busquets.
Sessegnon has been marked by Barcelona as a potential target, despite the youngster having troubles to find first time football under Jose Mourinho. He has made only 4 Premier League starts and a total of 12 appearances in all competitions this season, after Spurs signed him for €27.5m last summer from Fulham.
