Borussia Dortmund are keen on tying down talented central defender Dan-Axel Zagadou on a long-term contract. The 21-year-old is considered as one of the greater talents in the Bundesliga on his position and he has recently been linked with a move towards the Premier League. However, Dortmund hope toe keep Zagadou at the club for the coming years.
“We can well imagine that,” Borussia Dortmund’s director of Sport Michael Zorc told Kicker when asked if a new deal for the defender would be possible. “But we haven’t really had any conversations with him about it. “He has huge potential. He can still develop. He needs to work on his mobility as well as his robustness What’s important for him is that he stays healthy.”
The 21-year-old France U21 international was signed by Dortmund in 2017 in a transfer from Paris Saint-Germain. His current deal will run out in 2022, with Dortmund hoping to extend that deal with at least two more seasons. Since joining in 2017 Zagadou has made 60 appearances for Dortmund across all competitions, scoring four goals and providing a single assist.
