Manchester United are ready to hi-jack the proposed transfer of Thiago Alcantara to Liverpool. The Reds have been put forward as the only destination for the Spanish midfielder, but according to Bild Manchester United have emerged as late candidates to sign the Bayern Munich star this summer.
Bayern and Thiago have already confirmed that they will part ways this summer. The 29-year-old midfielder joined the German giants in 2013 together with Pep Guardiola and since joining he has won the title in the Bundesliga in every single season. It is reported that Thiago wants a change of scenery and has expressed the desire to play in the Premier League.
Shortly after Bayern confirmed Thiago will be sold this summer, Liverpool emerged as the leading candidate to sign him. However, Bild claims that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp does not want to sign the injury prone midfielder at all and is exploring other targets this summer.
Meanwhile Manchester United want to challenge their arch rivals and Manchester City for the title next season and could use some extra quality on the midfield. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer usually plays a three-man midfield and adding Thiago as a playmaker would increase United’s overall quality.
