Manchester United wants to sell six players to generate funds

Manchester United are ready to offload six players this summer to generate the funds needed to sign Jadon Sancho and create space in their wage budget. The Telegraph reports that the Red Devils have told Alexis Sanchez, Chris Smalling, Marcos Rojo, Phil Jones, Diogo Dalot and Jesse Lingard that they  may leave Old Trafford.

United have been interested in signing Sancho for months and are aware that Borussia Dortmund want €125m for the winger. Due to the corona crisis pandemic United have troubles finding the funds to complete the transfer. Despite the financial difficulties, United want to complete the transfer to avoid a bidding war next summer when clubs have restored from the crisis.

For that reason United will look to sell six players. Sanchez, Rojo and Smalling have already left the club on loan to respectively Internazionale, Estudiantes and AS Roma and there are talks ongoing to make the loan deals permanent. The club is also open for bids for Jones, Dalot and Lingard, who don’t have a future under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. There has been some interest from the Premier League for Jones and Lingard, while Dalot could move back to Portugal.
