Borussia Dortmund are set to finalise the transfer of Birmingham City midfielder Jude Bellingham. The BBC reports that the 17-year-old midfielder traveled to Germany on Thursday to complete the latest stages of his transfer to Dortmund. After the medical he returned to England to prepare for Birmingham’s game at Preston on Saturday.
The talented midfielder has been linked with numerous club in England, but the preference of Bellingham has always been Dortmund. Manchester United were seriously interested and even arranged a meeting with Sir Alex Ferguson, who gave him a tour at Old Trafford and United’s training ground.
However, Dortmund’s plan with Bellingham proved persuasive. The midfielder is set to join the first team squad next season and he will be given the chance to fight for a spot in the starting eleven. Also Dortmund’s history of developing young players into World Class stars, most notably Jadon Sancho and Christian Pulisic, seemed to be a reason to join the Germans.
