Luka Modric will be leaving Real Madrid after next season, claims Onda Cero journalist Edu Pital. The Croatian midfielder will be turning 36 in 2021 and is set to move to another club or even retire from football. The report also claims that Modric will be replaced in the first-team squad by Martin Odegaard, who is currently on loan at Real Sociedad.
The Norwegian youngster has been impressing ever since he joined the Basque club and many believed that he would be returning to Madrid this summer. Onda Cero, however, report that Odegaar will be staying at Sociedad for a second season before he will be returning to Madrid to take the place of Modric in the first team.
Real Sociedad president Jokin Aperribay recently told Marca when asked if Odegaard would stay beyond this season: “I believe he will stay with us, that is our goal.” Odegaard was signed by Real Madrid when he was 16-years-old. The past few seasons he spent on loan at Dutch clubs sc Heerenveen and Vitesse. Last summer he was sent on loan at Real Sociedad and he has netted seven goals in his first season in La Liga.
