Atletico Madrid are the hot favourites to land Ajax full-back Nico Tagliafico this summer, reports Goal. The 27-year-old Argentinian is allowed to leave Ajax this summer after two successful seasons with the Dutch giants. Tagliafico has also been linked with a move to Chelsea, but the Blues prefer signing Leicester City‘s Ben Chilwell instead.
Tagliafico joined Ajax from Independiente 2.5 seasons ago and developed into one of the better left-backs in Europe, playing a major part in Ajax’s successful Champions League campaign last season. The Argentinian international has ‘earned’ a transfer as Ajax are willing to sell the defender after two successful seasons.
It is understood that Atletico has already made contact with Ajax and talks are expected to continue next week. The Dutch giants are demanding between €25m to €30m for Tagliafico and their are poised to get the best deal as they also have to pay a sell-on clause to Independiente, which is believed to be around ten per cent.
