FC Barcelona have confirmed on Saturday that they have completed the transfer of Fabian Luzzi. The youngster has signed a three-year contract with the club, with the option of extending that contract with two more seasons. The 16-year-old forward has joined the Catalan giants for an undisclosed fee from Rayo Vallecano.
Real Madrid were also in the market for Luzzi, but he decided he wanted to move to Barcelona instead. However, reports claim that Madrid pulled out of the deal after they found out what Barcelona had offered the 16-year-old. Real was reluctant to break their wage structure for younger players and decided not to pursue Luzzi anymore.
Luzzi has yet to make his professional debut as he played for the second team at Rayo Vallecano. The forward has been capped at Under 16 level for Spain. According to Spanish outlet Marca Barcelona are preparing another offer for a Rayo Vallecano player, with central defender Martin Pascual being on their wanted-list.
