Everton are interested in signing veteran goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu from Torino, Calciomercato reports. The Toffees are in the market for a new back-up goalkeeper after Maarten Stekelenburg decided to return to his boyhood club Ajax on a free transfer. Sirigi is currently under contract at Italian side Torino.
Toffees boss Carlo Ancelotti has worked with Sirigu at Paris Saint-Germain and it is believed the coach has already made contact with the goalkeeper. The 33-year-old has made 33 appearances in the Serie A for Torino this season, conceding 60 goals. According to the report, Napoli are also interested in signing Sirigu.
However, the report also claims that Everton could be in the lead due to Ancelotti being the coach at Goodison Park. Sirigu would be a good second choice behind Pickford, who has been criticised in recent weeks after several poor performances. A good and quality second choice goalkeeper could push the England international to reach his full potential.
