Jorge Jesus will be returning to Benfica next season after his Brazilian club Flamengo confirmed the coach has left. The coach has reportedly signed a three-year contract at the Portuguese giants and will be earning €3m-a-year. It is also believed he will be replacing the entire coaching staff at Benfica, bringing in his own.
The 65-year-old coach won the Brasileirão, Copa Libertadores, Recopa Sudamericana, Supercopa do Brasil, and the Carioca Championship during his stay at Flamengo, making him the second-most successful coach in the club’s history. Jesus recently signed a new one-year contract with the Brazilians but being separated from his family has played a large part in his decision.
Jesus enjoyed a successful spell as coach at Benfica, claiming three Portuguese league titles and five national cups. There have also been reports that Jesus is keen on bringing Flamengo stars Bruno Henrique and Gerson with him to Portugal, but the Brazilians are not willing to make a deal for either player at this time.
