Philippe Coutinho is still wanted by Arsenal but the Gunners lack the funds to sign the Brazilian midfielder. FC Barcelona are very keen to offload Coutinho but are reluctant to send him away on a second loan spell after he spent last season at Bayern Munich. Barcelona want to sell and Foot Mercato reveals that Arsenal have come up with a plan.
The Gunners are keen on selling Matteo Guendouzi this summer. The French midfielder has fallen out of favour with Mikel Arteta over the past few weeks. Meanwhile, Barcelona have been looking at Guendouzi ever since he has been dropped from the first team by Arteta. The report states that Arsenal have offered Guendouzi to Barcelona in a swap plus cash deal for Coutinho.
It is believed that the two clubs have been talking about the transfer of Coutinho in recent weeks. Barcelona would like to recuperate most of the €140m they paid Liverpool two seasons ago, but the Spanish giants realise that the chances are slim an interested club is willing to pay a fee in the €100m area for Coutinho. Their best option seems to be a player plus cash deal and Arsenal could be willing to meet those demands.
