Mikel Arteta hopes that ‘beautiful moments’ like Arsenal‘s FA Cup semi-final win over Manchester City will help the club convince Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to sign a new contract with the club. The Gunners secured a 2-0 win over City to reach the final of the FA Cup on Saturday with two goals from the Gabon striker.
The 31-year-old will be out of contract next summer and talks about a new deal have not lead to an agreement. Arteta hopes that Arsenal’s win over City will help Aubameyang make a decision. “Good and beautiful moments, they are always better than the bad ones,” Arteta said. “As I told you, the way I look at him when I speak with him, he sounds pretty convinced.”
“But obviously if he can see that success and the direction we are taking is the right one, I think he will be more positive about it, yes. Hopefully it will help him to be more convinced we are going in the right direction.” In recent weeks Aubameyang has been linked with moves to Juventus and FC Barcelona.
