The club secured a ticket for next season’s Europa League. The battle for the final tickets of the Europa League were a lot more exciting.

Valencia, Getafe, Granada and Real Sociedad all had the chance to grab an Europa League spot for next season. Getafe hurt themselves with a 1-0 loss to Levante, which allowed Granada to pass them after they beat Athletic Bilbao 4-0. Later on Real Sociedad scored a late goal at Atletico Madrid and that would finish them in sixth place. Both Sociedad and Granada take the final tickets for European football next season, Valencia and Getafe have finished the season in tears.

At the bottom of the league two teams were already relegated: Espanyol and RCD Mallorca. The third and final team to relegate would be decided between Alaves, Leganes and Celta de Vigo. Alaves lost 4-0 away at Barcelona, while Celta de Vigo would draw 0-0 away at Espanyol. Leganes would need to beat Real Madrid to jump over both Celta and Alaves but were held to a 2-2 draw. That means Leganes will go down alongside Espanyol and Mallorca to the Segunda Division. They will be replaced by Cadiz and Huesca, while the third team has to be decided in the promotion play-offs.
