Patrick van Aanholt has played his final game of the 2019/2020 season. The Dutch defender will need to undergo surgery after he dislocated his shoulder in the match against Manchester United (2-0 loss). Van Aanholt was stretchered off the pitch receiving oxygen.
Speaking ahead of their match against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday, Palace manager Roy Hodgson admitted Van Aanholt could be out for weeks and could even miss the start of next season. “Pat has dislocated his shoulder and will require surgery. It will keep him out for the rest of the season. We’ll have to see how it goes in the pre-season. There’s no timescale as yet for when he’s back.”
Palace are currently in fourteenth position on the table and have 42 points from 36 games and look safe for yet another season in the Premier League. They will play against Wolves on Monday before they finish the season with a home game against Tottenham Hotspur.
