Real Madrid has relegated Leganes on the final day of the La Liga season after a 2-2 draw. Leganes has finished in eighteenth position, a point behind Celta de Vigo who finish just outside of the relegation zone. A win over Madrid would have secured another season in La Liga for Leganes.
Real had the best start to the game and took the lead after eight minutes through a goal by Sergio Ramos. He was not defended well inside the penalty area and had an easy finish. Just before half-time Leganes drew level. It was a goal by Bryan Gil, who took the ball into penalty area after a cross by Jonathan Silva and would score from a difficult angle.
In the second half Real Madrid took the lead once again as Marco Asensio finished a cross by Isco to find a near post goal. Roger Assalé set the final score at 2-2, by finishing a cross that passed Eder Militao. Leganes had hoped that there would be enough time to force a third goal and avoid relegation. However, Madrid managed to keep the score at 2-2, relegating Leganes to the Segunda Division.
