Atalanta full-back Robin Gosens attracts interest from European elite

Robin Gosens could be making a big transfer this summer to one of Europe’s elite clubs. Kicker reports on Monday that the Atalanta full-back could be on the move as the Italians are prepared to accept bids in the €30m mark. The report claims that Internazionale, Juventus, Chelsea and the ambitious Hertha BSC would be in the market for Gosens.

Gosens joined Atalanta in 2017 for €900.000 from Dutch side Heracles Almelo and has developed into on of the best left-backs in the Serie A. The German defender could have moved last summer after he reached a personal agreement with Schalke 04. Despite Gosens keen on playing for his favourite club, the Koningsblauen were unable to pay the €12m demanded by Schalke.

A year later Atalanta will be able to demand more than double for Gosens and with four clubs interested, chances are the defender will be on the move this summer. Internazionale have been put forward as the leading club the sign Gosens. Antoinio Conte prefers to play a 3-5-2 formation and the attacking-minded Gosens would be an ideal player for Conte’s system.

Juventus are also interested, but aren’t prepared to meet Atalanta’s 30m valuation. The report claims that the Bianconeri are planning a player swap. Meanwhile, Hertha Berlin are planning to storm the German top four next season and want to bring Gosens in as their new left-back. He has also been put on the shortlist by Chelsea, who are trailing Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell. Gosens is a candidate, but the Blues would prefer to sign either Chilwell or Ajax defender Nico Tagliafico.
