Borussia Dortmund have confirmed the signing of Jude Bellingham from Birmingham City. The German club has confirmed the transfer through social media and their official website. The 17-year-old has signed a five-year contract at Dortmund in a deal that is worth €23m. Bild reports that Bellingham will be earning around €15m during his contract at Dortmund.
Bellingham traveled to Germany last week and the midfielder successfully underwent a medical with Dortmund. With the signing Dortmund has beaten big teams like Manchester United, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Liverpool and Chelsea. Bellingham had one year left on his contract at Birmingham.
The new Dortmund signing told the official website: “I can’t thank Birmingham City enough for what the club did for me – not just this season, but since I came to the club when I was seven. Now I’m really excited to join one of the biggest clubs in Europe. BVB’s path, but especially how they help young players to improve, made the decision very easy for me personally and for my whole family. I can’t wait to play in one of the most beautiful stadiums in the world, hopefully in front of over 80,000 spectators as soon as possible.”
