David Alaba wants massive wage hike as Bayern future is uncertain

David Alaba has instructed his agent to start contract talks with Bayern Munich, reports Sport1. The Austrian defender has also asked for a significant raise in wages and his agent Pini Zahavi has reportedly requested an annual salary of €20m. According to his agent Alaba is one of the best central defenders in the world next to Real Madrid‘s Sergio Ramos.

Zahavi feels that both defenders are on the same level and therefore feels that Alaba must be paid on the same level as the Spanish Real Madrid captain. Bayern are yet to respond to the request, but if they accept Alaba will join Robert Lewandowski, Manuel Neuer and Thomas Muller as the club’s top earners.

The report also claims that Alaba is willing to extend his contract with the Bavarian giants and it is even stated that the defender wishes to end his career with the club. For the time being the talks will be on hold until after Bayern’s Champions League campaign has ended. Alaba’s current contract will run out at the end of next season and several clubs have been linked with the Austrian, including FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester City and Chelsea.
