Antoine Griezmann, Joao Felix and Luka Jovic have all made the 2019/2020 ‘worst signing’ squad of the Spanish LaLiga. After the final games of the season were played on Sunday, Marca looked back at the season to find out which players were able to impress and more importantly; who failed to impress for their new employers.
Much was expected from Griezmann when he completed his long-awaited €100m move from Atletico Madrid to FC Barcelona last summer. The French striker failed to form a deadly partnership with Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi. With 9 goals from 35 La Liga appearances Griezmann has failed to impress.
Two other big summer signings were added to the list by Marca. Joao Felix was bought by Atletico Madrid in a record €125m from Benfica, but the Portuguese wonderkid has yet to show the potential he displayed at his former club. Luka Jovic also made the list. The Serbian striker wrecked the Bundesliga apart at Eintracht Frankfurt last year, but the 22-year-old was limited to 15 appearances for Real Madrid scoring two goals.
LaLiga’s ‘worst signing’ squad:
Jasper Cillessen; Thierry Correia, Fernando Calero, Júnior Firpo; Rony Lopes, Denis Suárez, Matías Vargas, João Félix; Antoine Griezmann, Luka Jovic, Borgja Iglesias.
