Pressure has been increased for Watford after the Hornets suffered a heavy 4-0 loss at the hands of Manchester City. Raheem Sterling starred for the Citizens as the England forward scored a brace in the first half. Phil Foden en Aymeric Laporte completed the score on Tuesday evening.
The hosts were lucky that they would go into half-time with only two conceded goals. Watford did concede to unlucky goals. At first Sterling was overlooked completely and the forward did not have any troubles to finish his shot to open the score. Not long after Sterling was fouled by Will Hughes in the penalty area. The following penalty was converted by Sterling himself.
After the break Man City kept dominating the game and Watford were lucky that the visitors only scored twice in the second half. Foden scored City’s third goal of the game before Aymeric Laporte was found by Kevin de Bruyne to finish the score at 4-0. With the loss Watford still have to fear for relegation. Aston Villa and Bournemouth are three points behind, but now have a better goal difference than the Hornets.
