Sevilla have made contact with Marcos Alonso’s agent to talk about a potential move to the LaLiga club this summer. The Spanish left-back will be allowed to leave Chelsea this summer as the Blues have made progress in their search for a new left defender. Estadio Deportivo reports that Alonso could be on the move after the Premier League season has ended.
Alonso joined Chelsea in 2016 in a transfer from Fiorentina and had a great part in winning the Premier League in 2017 under Antonio Conte. After the Italian left Alonso has become a fringe player at Stamford Bridge, failing to hold down a regular spot under both Maurizio Sarri and Frank Lampard.
Sevilla are now interested to sign Alonso, who has a contract until the summer of 2023. However, Chelsea will not be demanding top dollar for the 29-year-old as it is expected that he will be allowed to leave for a fee under €25m. Sevilla secured a ticket for next season’s Champions League and with that qualification the Andalusian club will be able to spend some money on the summer market.
Meanwhile Chelsea are nearing an agreement with Ajax for Nico Tagliafico. The Blues had their eyes set on Leicester City‘s Ben Chilwell but the English defender is too expensive this summer. Tagliafico has been their second choice and it is believed that Chelsea and Ajax are nearing an agreement on a €30m fee.
