AC Milan have cooled their interest in German midfielder Mario Gotze, lcaims to Calcio Mercato. The 28-year-old midfielder is a free agent after he left Borussia Dortmund earlier this month following the expiration of his contract. The San Siro club has been touted as a possible destination for Gotze.
However, the Italians have decided not to continue contract talks with the German as they have learned he has a €8 million-per-year wage demand. Gotze rejoined Dortmund in 2016 after a three year spell at Bayern Munich. Back at Dortmund he failed to live up to the expectations which resulted in the club deciding not to offer him a new contract.
Since leaving Dortmund Gotze has been actively finding a new club. He has been linked with various clubs all over the world, including clubs from Spain, England, Italy, Turkey, United States and China. As cited earlier, the German has high wage demands and that will make it difficult for him to find a new club.
