Laurent Blanc is reportedly standby to jump in at FC Barcelona to become their next manager if the club decides to part ways with Quique Setien, reports Diario Sport. The former France and Paris Saint-Germain boss is currently without a club and would be keen to give his managerial career a boost by signing a contract at the Nou Camp.
Earlier reports have suggested that Setien will finish the season at Barcelona, taking charge of the team for the return of the Champions League on August 8. The Blaugranas will face Napoli in the second leg of their round of 16 tie with the score tied at 1-1. Setien’s future will depend on that game and the games that will possibly follow if they manage to beat the Italians.
Blanc has an history at Barcelona, playing for the club during the 1996-97 season, making 38 appearances. He joined from Auxerre but already joined Olympique Marseille a season later after he suffered several injuries. As manager he has won four Ligue 1 titles and 15 trophies in total. He also managed the France national team during Euro 2012.
