Martin Braithwaite is set to leave FC Barcelona after being there for only six months, reports Mundo Deportivo. The 29-year-old joined Barcelona from Leganes in February after the Blaugranas lost Luis Suarez and Ousmane Dembele to a long-term injuries. It is now reported that the Danish forward will be transfer listed this summer.
Braithwaite only made 11 appearances for Barcelona during the second half of the season, starting only four of those. Due to the coronavirus pandemic and the lockdown that followed, Suarez returned in time for the final stages of LaLiga and Champions League, limiting the prospects for Braithwaite.
With Dembele also on the way back, Braithwaite looks to be a surplus at the Nou Camp. Barcelona paid around €18m for the forward in February and it is believed that the club are hoping to recuperate a large part of that transfer fee. He was Leganes’ top goalscorer with six goals before he joined Barcelona, and the club were relegated following the 2-2 draw with Real Madrid on Sunday.
