Leroy Sane has urged his new Bayern Munich teammate David Alaba to reject any offer made by Manchester City. The Austrian left-back has been linked with a move to the English giants after reports from Germany have claimed that contract negotiations with Bayern have not been successful.
Real Madrid and Chelsea are also keen on the left-back, who has one year left on his contract. But despite having good options outside of the Bundesliga, Sane hopes that Alaba will stay on at Bayern next season. “I really hope David stays,” Sane told Sport Bild. “I would like to play with him. David has proven that he is not only one of the world’s best left-backs, but also exceptional in the centre.”
Sane completed a €60m move from City this summer and decided not to stay with the English giants but already complete a move before the Premier League season had ended. “The club wanted me to be able to properly prepare for my new job in Munich. If I had finished the season (with City), the preparation (for next season) would have been very short. I want to arrive (at Bayern) in peace, find a place to stay, prepare for the new chapter in my career, and then start all over.”
With his move back to Germany, Sane hopes he will be included in Germany’s national team for Euro 2020 (2021) after he was dropped from the 2018 World Cup squad. “I’ve completely ticked off the 2018 World Cup chapter, and I don’t think about it anymore. My relationship with Jogi Low was very good right from the start, and that hasn’t changed. He is counting on me for the future, and I appreciate that.”
