West Brom Albion joins Leeds United and grab promotion

West Bromwich Albion have joined Leeds United as the Baggies have been promoted to the Premier League. West Brom played Quees Park Rangers on the final day of the season and failed to beat QPR. But because Brentford lost to Barnsley, West Brom have secured automatic promotion to the Premier League.

Ryan Manning put the visitors ahead before Albion turned it round with goals either side of the break from Grady Diangana and Callum Robinson. Eberechi Eze managed to score the 2-2 and that was the final score. A draw for West Brom would have been enough anyway, but Barnsley’s win has given the club a two-point cushion.

Earlier on Leeds United secured the title in the EFL Championship. The Whites have been waiting 16 years for their return to the highest level, even spending seasons in the League One. For West Brom the promotion to the Premier League is their sixth in total, which is a league record.
