FC Barcelona are keen on signing Manchester City defender Eric Garcia this summer, while the two clubs are also in talks about a possible player swap between Nelson Semedo and Joao Cancelo. Diario Sport have reported that the two clubs have been in talks for the past week and could push through for the deals to be completed after the Premier League season has concluded next week.
Barcelona’s main interest is in Garcia. The former youth product is considered as the long-term successor for Gerard Pique and the Catalans hope to bring the pair together next season at the Camp Nou. Garcia’s contract at Man City is set to expire next season and the centre-back has not reached an agreement for a new deal. This has increased Barcelona’s hopes in re-signing the defender.
Meanwhile the clubs have been talking about a direct player-swap for Cancelo and Semedo. Surprising news after reports emerged that Barcelona wanted to extend the Semedo’s contract until the summer of 2025. For Cancelo a move to Barcelona could mean his fourth move in four years after he joined Internazionale in 2016. After one season playing for the Nerazzurri he joined Juventus before joining Manchester City last season.
