Newly promoted Spanish side Cadiz have confirmed that former Sevilla and Manchester City striker Alvaro Negredo is their first summer signing. The 34-year-old striker has signed a one-year contract with the club and has the option to extend his stay with the club for a further year.
The former Spanish international – 10 goals in 21 caps – has been a prolific goalscorer throughout his career and could prove to be a huge signing for Cadiz. Negredo played for Al-Nasr in Dubai last season, showing that with 28 goals in 41 appearances he still has the quality to score goals.
Negredo was developed through the youth setup of Rayo Vallecano before heading to Real Madrid and later on Almeria in 2007. He was then brought back by Madrid before moving to Sevilla in 2009. After four successful seasons he was transfered to Manchester City. He would play 49 games for the English giants, scoring 23 goals and winning the Premier League.
Despite his goal scoring record for the Citizens Negredo returned to Spain a season later to join up with Valencia. Two years later he returned to the Premier League again signing for Middlesbrough. For the Riversiders he would play 39 games before signing for Turkish giants Besiktas in 2018 and Dubai saide Al-Nasr in 2018. In total Negredo has played 542 official games, scoring 229 goals throughout his career.
