Kai Havertz has returned to Bayer Leverkusen on Thursday to prepare with his club for the round of 16 second leg against Rangers FC in the Europa League. Sky Sports report that the German midfielder is still keen on completing a move to Chelsea this summer but will not force a move ahead of the Europa League in August.
Havertz was one of the first players out on the training pitch on Thursday morning and Leverkusen are expecting him to play against Rangers. However, this might change if Chelsea will push through a move next week, especially when they manage to beat Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday to qualify for the Champions League.
Leverkusen are demanding €100m for the midfielder but it has been reported that the Germans are open for a lower fee plus add-ons and bonuses. It is believed that Chelsea are preparing a €75m bid and €25m in add-ons and bonuses. If Havertz signs he will become Chelsea’s third big signing after Hakim Ziyech (Ajax) and Timo Werner (RB Leipzig).
