Samuel Umtiti has no intention of leaving FC Barcelona this summer. The French defender has been avoiding talks about his contract with the club as Mundo Deportivo reports that Umtiti is purely focused on the recovery from his knee injury. Umtiti has missed over 15 games this season due to injury problems.
Umtiti has been struggling with injuries this season and Barcelona confirmed the left-footed centre-back suffered a new injury to his left knee which will keep him out for several weeks. It has been the same injury Umtiti has been suffering from since the 2018 World Cup. Rumours then arrived that Barcelona wanted to get rid of the defender.
However, Umtiti has no plans to leave the club and is eyeing to fulfill his contract which runs out in the summer of 2023 while he is eyeing a possible return for the club in time for their Champions League campaign to resume. Meanwhile Barcelona have been looking around and have marked Villarreal defender Pau Torres as a possible replacement for Umtiti.
