Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe has avoided a serious injury on his ankle, Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed. The French giants have stated that Mbappe has suffer a ‘serious ankle sprain’ but that he has not torn or broken anything. Despite the positive result from the medical examination Mbappe could still miss out on the Champions League.
Mbappe was kicked out of the Coupe de France final on Friday after a hard challenge by Loic Perrin. The Saint-Etienne player was then sent off the pitch with a red card after the referee consulted the VAR. The 21-year-old left the pitch in tears but later showed up on crutches to celebrate the won final (1-0) with his team-mates.
Mbappe was sent to a hospital after the game where his ankle has been examined. On Saturday the club issued a statement: ”Serious right ankle sprain to the external lateral compartment. To be re-evaluated in 72 hours with clinical and ankle imaging analysis.” Mbappe could be out for three to four weeks with a sprained ankle.
