FC Barcelona are preparing to offer goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen a new contract this summer. El Mundo Deportivo report that the Blaugranas have made it their top priority to have the German goalkeeper sign a new and improved multi-year deal. The report claims that Barcelona are confident Ter Stegen will sign a new deal in the coming weeks.
Ter Stegen’s current deal will run until the summer of 2022 and he had been in talks about a new deal earlier this year. The talks had been stalled due to the corona crisis pandemic and the financial impact it has had on the club. However, with interest from other clubs in Ter Stegen, Barcelona have now made a new contract their top priority.
The news over Ter Stegen’s contract is followed after it was speculated that Chelsea are interested in signing the Germany international. The Blues would be willing to meet Ter Stegen’s contract demands as they are looking to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga this summer. It is believed Barcelona truly fear they could lose Ter Stegen and have therefore decided to speed up the negotiations for a new deal.
